INTRODUCTION TO STAQs “Statutory Transgression Analysis Questionnaires”
STAQs are easy-to-use interactive questionnaires which identify factual transgressions of legislation.
No particular expertise are required to undertake a STAQ, other than a fair understanding of English (and, if the STAQ is undertaken online, a basic knowledge of the internet and keyboard).
STAQs are powerful tools, designed to assist you to start and/or maintain a compliance maintenance and monitoring programme, which will minimise the disruption and expense of compliance programmes, and provide an easy fit with other processes and programmes undertaken by your organisation. STAQs are available on subscription, or commission, for any section of any legislation or standard
STAQs can be undertaken simultaneously, online or offline, by one or more person, to identify either your own or a third party’s transgression status. They are as powerful a tool in the hands of a company checking its own compliance, as in the hands of a director checking the compliance of his or her own company, a trading partner, or supplier, or in the hands of a compliance monitoring, surveying or inspectorate body which wishes to simultaneously test for transgressions of multiple sections of legislation, by multiple potential third party transgressors.
We suggest that you contact us so that we can discuss the best potential tailored use you or your organisation could make of our powerful STAQ products.
The difference between STAQs and simple checkbox compliance
Although STAQs are easy to use, what goes into STAQ development and what goes on in the background as you answer STAQ questions is rather more complex.
The content of each STAQ is developed through a process of intense content analysis of the relevant legislation, which is informed by a unique mix of real legal and other expertise, experience and knowledge.
Each STAQ is delivered to users through the STAQ user interface to our website, which is backed by proprietary software that applies the factual matrix built up by a user’s “yes” or “no” answers, to generate a potential transgression grid. When a factual matrix triggers a “potential” in the transgression grid, it indicates that the legislation precludes the set of identified factual circumstances. When this occurs, the STAQ programme generates a transgression report which informs the user not only that a transgression has occurred, but which section or subsection has been transgressed, as well as the factual cause of that transgression.
Therefore although the experience of using a STAQ may superficially resemble a simple checklist system of compliance, they are anything but simple checklists! They are as complex as the background work that goes into STAQ development and delivery.
STAQs are powerful compliance tools, which are thought-provokingly interactive and interesting to undertake, and which will stimulate an organic and interactive two-way flow of both lateral and vertical knowledge and information sharing throughout the relevant organisation. This has additional and surprisingly positive knock-on effects in marketing, product development, employee health and safety and other arenas which would be affected by a good compliance and transgression identification programme. |
