North West Traditional Leadership and Governance Act, No. 2 of 2005

Long title


To provide for the recognition of traditionat communities' traditional leadership, institutions; to define the role and functions of traditional leaders; to define the functions of traditional councils; to provide for the appointment, recognition' removal of traditional leaders; to provide for the payment of allowances (sitting, subsistence and traveling) to traditional leaders; to promote cooperative governance and transformation of the traditional leadership institutions; to provide for
the provincial code of conduct for traditional leadership; to provide for mechanisms for dispute resolution; to regulate the administration of traditional institutions; and to provide for other incidental matters.
