Publications Amendment Act, No. 79 of 1977
Long title To amend the provisions of tlie Publications Act, 1974, so as to make different provision as to the quorum of the directorate; to authorize the Minister to determine the seat of the directorate; to authorize the directorate to establish offices for the purposes of its functions; to· authorize the directorate to consult certain persons as to matters relating to its functions; to provide that the list of the names of persons competent to serve on committees shall be compiled every three years; to provide that certain advisory committees shall be appointed every three years; to repeal the provisions excluding the printing or publication of certain pnblications from certain provisions of that Act; to make further provision for the application of the provisions of the said Act to publications or objects produced before the commencement of that Act; to impose a duty upon the director to inform certain persons of the reasons for certain decisions; to make provision for the reconsideration by the appeal board of certain decisious relating to publications or objects, films or public entertainments; to make dit1'erent provision as to certain conditions which may be imposed relating to the exhibition of films to children;' to delete the provisions that the certificate of approval shall accompany certain applications; to extend the powers of the appeal board in the case of appeals against the imposition of certain conditions; to provide for an increase of the number of names to be included in the list of names of persons competent to serve on the appeal board; to prohibit the inHuencing of the directorate and committees; to provide tbat the number of copies of certain editions of certain publications or objects may not be taken into account for certain purposes; to prohibit the publication of certain advertisements; and to authorize the Minister to prescribe an amount for the issue of a copy of a certificate; and to provide for incidental matters.
