INTRODUCTION TO LEGALB’S

Weekly Annotated Gazette Indexing Service...

Overview

We uniquely structure and summarise the content of various Government Gazettes, and email this information to you on a weekly basis, so that you can in turn very quickly and cost-effectively undertake focused, current research into the content of the Gazettes, in order to keep informed about their contents and any relevant items.

Our Weekly Annotated Gazette Indexing Service includes:

* Weekly indexes of items in the National and Provincial Gazettes, which list each item title against the name, number and section of the Act under which the item was reportedly published: This allows you to quickly and easily monitor whether the Gazettes contain anything relevant to legislation you are interested in

* Annotated item titles, for those titles that are non-descriptive or inaccurate, which provide further information about the content of the item: This allows you to more quickly and accurately decide whether the particular Gazette items are relevant to you.

* A regular weekly email containing quick-links to new Gazette Indexes, our Legislation News page, and our Summary of Gazettes page: This allows you to schedule your Gazette research process directly from your in-box, and to obtain information at a glance or in depth, as and when you have time.

* Quick links, from within our Annotated Gazette Indexes, to the overviews and text of legislation and subordinate legislation (Note: Links to pre-1994, amended and subordinate legislation are only available to subscribers of the relevant databases or at our option on request): This allows you to place information you find in the Gazette within the context of other legislation, a process necessary to obtaining the depth of understanding and integration which complex organisations require.

* Scanned and emailed .pdf copies of particular items in the Gazettes (service provided at your specific request, at our option either free of charge or on payment of a minimum and per page fee): This allows you to obtain only those items in the Gazettes that you really need, without having to wade through the avalanche of hard copies which comprise the Gazettes.

Note on Hard Copies and Electronic Copies of Gazettes

The provision of hard copies of Gazettes is not included in a subscription to LegalB’s Annotated Gazette Indexes because these are available at extremely cost-effective and subsidized prices from various government outlets. If you are interested in subscribing to hard copies of the Gazettes, we would be happy to assist you to obtain information on how to take out an annual subscription from the relevant government outlet.

The provision of electronic .pdf copies of Gazette items is also not included in a subscription to LegalB’s Annotated Gazette Indexes, because these are well handled by relevant government departments. However, if you need assistance in obtaining information on where to obtain these online, or you request us to forward .pdf copies of any particular items from the Gazettes we would, at our option, either free of charge or on payment of a minimum and per page fee, email you the .pdf copy required.

In practice

LegalB’s Annotated Gazette Indexes are available on payment of an annual subscription fee (see below), as arranged through our office.

As soon as your subscription has been processed, we provide you with the user name and password necessary to access the Indexes online, and you begin receiving a weekly Monday email reminder containing direct links to the week's Annotated Gazette Indexes, and our legislation news and summary pages.

(Note: Electronic and hard copies of Gazettes or items in them are not provided as part of our Annotated Gazette Index service. However, we are generally happy to email a .pdf file or two of a particular Gazette item which is of direct interest to a subscriber (at their specific request and at our discretion either free of charge or at our per page fee). We are also happy to assist anyone to obtain an annual subscription to, or individual hard copies of Gazettes, from government outlets.)

We are happy to package specific set of Gazette-related services for your organisation. Should you wish us to provide a number of your members, or staff, with access, we would be happy to negotiate a specific set of services, and unique subscription regime suitable to your needs.
